Gershwin with the GSO

I will be performing with the Geelong Symphony Orchestra some of the most iconic orchestral works with the saxophone: Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris.

It has been fascinating rediscovering these works, particularly with the (relatively) recent unabridged version of  An American in Paris which features a soprano saxophone trio and the correct pitching of the taxi horns.

Rhapsody in Blue was one of the earliest works I studied and it will be a delight to perform it again. You can watch a fascinating interview with Timothy McAllister discussing the orchestral saxophone and Gershwin at The Gershwin Initiative.
