Australian saxophonist Shannon Ebeling graduated with the Masters of Music (Performance) from the University of Melbourne after completing the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Teaching degrees with first class honours.

He received the Australian Postgraduate Award at the University of Melbourne, the Melbourne Education Excellence in Music Teaching Award in 2005 and the ASME Tertiary Music Student award for outstanding achievement in Music Education Studies in 2006.

Shannon was awarded the LMusA on saxophone with distinction and was a finalist in the 2010 Zavod Classical-Jazz Fusion Award. He has performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Australian Classical Players, the Australian Discovery Orchestra and the Melbourne Royal Philharmonic as well as being broadcast live on 3MBS and Classic FM.

Shannon has taught in primary and secondary schools for the last 16 years and is an experienced and inspiring clinician. In addition to presenting masterclasses across Victoria on designing an instrumental music curriculum and enhancing teaching strategies, he has tutored for Melbourne Youth Music and has been a guest conductor at the Border Music Camp, Geelong Summer Music Camp and Bendigo Instrumental Music Program Music Week.

Shannon has taught saxophone at The University of Melbourne, directing the saxophone ensemble, and lectured in curriculum and assessment and second instrument (woodwind) for the Masters of Music (Performance Teaching). He is currently teaching at The Geelong College and is the Musical Director of the Geelong Concert Band.
