ONLINE STORES

Sax UK
The self preclaimed "Mecca of Saxes", this London store is run by saxophonists, for saxophonists. They have an excellent collection of horns, accessories and a series of educational videos about gear and playing. The site has lots of links to the music scene in the UK and the store ships internationally, although if you're in London, they'd be happy for you to pop by!

Sax Alley
An excellent saxophone store in the USA, they have a wide range of horns, accessories and a list of specials/close-outs. This store also has a link to a music organisation that passes on unwanted saxophones to someone in need in the US or overseas.

Reedmusic
Created by saxophonist Barry Cockcroft, Reedmusic is one of the biggest promoters of Australian music for saxophone. They have a really quick turn-around, being based in Melbourne, and the music is clearly graded with visual previews and audio samples where available. Become a member and save up to 25%.

Dorn Publications
If it's been written for saxophone, it will be on this website. Created by the same company in the USA who publish the internationally acclaimed Saxophone Journal, Dorn have an amazing list of saxophone music, saxophone CDs and reeds that they are happy to ship internationally. The website and order form are rather old-school, but their service is prompt and reliable.

Eble Music
Of absolutely no relation to me, this store has established a solid reputation as a professional and discerning sheet music retailer. They have a great range of music though it can be a bit cumbersome to browse through. Don't forget to check out the sale items.

Reeds.com.au
Dr Sax in Fitzroy has now become an excellent supplier of reeds for clarinet and saxophone. The prices are fair and shipping is very speedy. He currently has Vandoren, Rico, Hemke, La Voz and Fibracell in stock and it's easy to order them online. Go support the Australian business and get some great reeds at the same time.

CAMPS

Border Music Camp
The Border Music Camp is an action packed week in the July school holidays where you will be immersed in music-making from the massed choir rehearsal in the morning to the evening staff/student concerts. You can board at the prestigeous Scots College in Albury where all meals are provided and some of the best music teachers in the state spend the week up for the camp. You will meet and work with a composer-in-residence and have the opportunity to give a premier performance of a new Australian work.

Melbourne Youth Music Summer School
The biggest music camp in Victoria which rehearses at the Victorian College of the Arts and holds their final concert at the Melbourne Town Hall. There are four levels of concert bands as well as 2 big bands and a development program for young conductors. The performance standard is high and there are even inform concerts at lunchtime to serenade you at the canteen. Runs towards the end of January school holidays.

Geelong Summer Music Camp
This camp is fun and friendly with a great range of musicians (age 9 to 21), encouraging tutors and awesome conductors. One of the neat aspects is the electives you can choose after lunch: up for some film scoring, swing dancing or improvisation ensemble? Runs in January in the sunny seaside town of Geelong.
